April Soulak Andrews founded The Penny's Purpose in October 2019 as a heartfelt tribute to her mother, Penny Soulak, who devoted her life to altruism, extending her kindness even to animals in need. April's journey of aiding others commenced in 1999 when she embarked on her career as an EMT. Besides her role at The Penny's Purpose, April actively engages in various charitable organizations, demonstrating her unwavering dedication to bettering her community.
Through the blanket gifting program, April has discovered a meaningful way to pay homage to her mother's enduring legacy by offering warmth and solace to those facing adversity. She takes particular delight in collaborating with student volunteers and meticulously selecting blankets for distribution.
Beyond her philanthropic pursuits, April cherishes quality time with her husband, Bob, their sons, Jake and Adam, and their extended family and friends. She takes immense pride in supporting her son, Adam, during his baseball games. April's motto, "One blanket at a time," epitomizes her steadfast commitment to making a profound difference in the lives of those she touches.
Tracy has been part of the board since 2021. Tracy had the pleasure of crossing paths with April when their sons were teammates on a travel baseball squad in the fall of 2021. It was during the following year that April approached me with an invitation to join her organization, an offer I enthusiastically embraced. Being a part of this organization has been a rewarding experience, as it is dedicated to giving back to the community and extending warmth and comfort to those in need.
Diane has been part of The Penny’s Purpose since it started in 2019. She love’s being a part of this organization because she wanted to be more involved in the community and help others.
Being able to provide warmth and comfort to someone in need, who is facing a medical or mental issue, or the loss of a loved and knowing we made a difference in their life is why she loves being part of The Penny’s Purpose.
She enjoys other board members and Ioves what they have built together.
Kim Alesia has been a board member since 2022. Her involvement in The Penny's Purpose board holds significant personal meaning for her. The act of extending warmth and affection to those in need is profoundly fulfilling.
My family, friends, and I have collectively participated in various events and fundraisers, each of us having requested a blanket for someone close to our hearts.
Witnessing the radiant smiles on the faces of these recipients is the driving force behind my commitment to this exceptional organization.
Rena Jacobsen has been a board member since 2022. She is a long-time resident of Lindenhurst/Lake Villa, deeply rooted in the community.
Her enduring friendship with April spans decades, and my role as a board member holds profound significance. The joy of aiding those in need and contributing to our community's welfare is immeasurable. Embracing TPP's mission, "Learning to Give, when Blessed with Less," resonates with my core values, and I believe it's a principle we should all embrace.
She is honored to be part of TPP's journey, dedicated to providing warmth, solace, and positively impacting the lives of others.
Her passion lies in outdoor activities, leisurely strolls, and the tranquil allure of waterfront settings. And her heart belongs to my beloved dog, cherished friends, and my cherished family. I relish the opportunity to meet new people and make meaningful connections.
